Wellington Police have begun an investigation after they were called to a Paparangi house when a man in his 40s appeared with multiple stab wounds just after 2.00pm today.
The property has been secured and a scene examination will continue tomorrow with the specialist search group looking to locate the weapon used, believed to be a knife.
A 21 year old man is in Police custody and will appear in the Wellington District Court tomorrow facing a charge of wounding with intent. The two men are known to each other and Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
Detective Senior Sergeant John van den Heuvel says “We are still working through the details of what has occurred. We are confident that, while a serious incident, it is an isolated one.”
The man who was stabbed this afternoon is reported to be in a stable condition in Wellington Hospital and Police are looking to interview him in detail over the coming days.

One man has been taken to hospital and a second person is being spoken to by Police following an alleged stabbing incident in Wellington this afternoon.
Police were called at about 2 pm by a member of public at a Paparangi address after the injured man arrived at his front door with a number of injuries.
Police were on scene shortly after and found a second person apparently involved in the incident which had occurred at a nearby residential address.
Police are working to investigate the details of a fight.
The injured man has been taken to Wellington Hospital although it has not been confirmed if his injuries are as a result of a stabbing. At last report these injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
