Tonia Haskell to take charge of Wellington bus services

News from NZ Bus
NZ Bus CEO Zane Fulljames has today announced key appointments to the executive team. Tonia Haskell has been appointed to the role of Chief Operations Officer (COO) – Southern, replacing Rachel Drew, a valued member of the executive team who is on maternity leave from today.

Mr Fulljames says Tonia will join the executive team on July 7, and will take charge of the daily Wellington operations of Go Wellington and Valley Flyer. As COO she will lead NZ Bus’ health and safety initiatives and its drive to achieve a zero harm workplace, building on the excellent work Rachel has done in this area, which has included a comprehensive safety audit of NZ Bus’ entire Wellington fleet and improvements based on the findings of that audit early this year.

“Tonia has an extensive senior management background and has held high profile and complex roles in the telecommunications sector, among others. A trained lawyer with a demonstrable background in effecting positive change she is an excellent addition to the executive team and will provide continuity in leadership in the southern region.”

Mr Fulljames says Tonia’s appointment complements the recent additions of Chief Information Officer Mike Scott and General Manager Fleet Ian Gordon to the NZ Bus Senior Leadership Team, which will play a key role in shaping the future of public transport in Auckland and Wellington.
