Cyclists welcome flyover decision: “time for fresh thinking on transport issues”

News release from Cycle Aware
Cycle Aware Wellington has congratulated the Basin Bridge Board of Inquiry for declining resource consent for the NZTA’s proposed Basin Reserve flyover.

CAW spokesperson Patrick Morgan said the decision was the right one.

“It’s time for fresh thinking on addressing Wellington’s transport issues.”

He said cycling advocates look forward to working with the Transport Agency and the Wellington City Council on solutions that are effective, safe and affordable.

“Cycling in Wellington has grown by 73 percent since the 2006 Census, so it’s high time we invested in a comprehensive cycling network.”

“People want more transport choices. Many would love to cycle but they need safe and convenient cycling routes.”

Basin demolished for park/cycle/road improvements. Sounds great.
