Traffic delayed by gravel spill on motorway at Ngauranga Gorge

There was a gravel spill at the bottom of the Ngauranga Gorge, northbound near Tyers Road, this afternoon. It caused delays to northbound traffic on the motorway.

Police and roading contractors closed one northbound lane till the spill had been cleared by about 4pm.

Till then, Police asked drivers to “be aware” when traveling north over the Ngauranga Flyover and when entering the Gorge from Centennial Highway on-ramp.

MetLink later advised that some buses were running up to twenty minutes late because of the spill.
