Car rolls down 30m bank into swamp, driver seriously injured

News from NZ Police
A woman was seriously injured in a single vehicle crash on State Highway 3, just north of Te Roti Rd in South Taranaki, at about 9am this morning.

The woman, 67, who was the sole occupant, lost control of the car she was driving. It left the road and rolled down a 30 metre bank, ending up on its wheels in a swamp.

The woman was cut free from the vehicle and taken to Taranaki Base hospital by the Taranaki Rescue Helicopter. She received head, spine, and rib injuries and is described as being in a serious but stable condition.

SH3 was reduced to one lane for a short period but was then reopened with traffic flowing normally. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
