Six-year-old seriously injured when car crashes off road in Levin

A six year old boy was seriously injured when a car crashed off the road in Levin this morning.

The Palmerston North based Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the accident at around 10:30 am.

The Levin fire brigade was assisting with the accident and preparing a landing site for the helicopter.

Witnesses said there was four occupants in the car. The helicopter flew the injured six year old to Wellington Hospital after he was stabilised by St John paramedics.

The other three people were taken to hospital by ambulance.

The helicopter was dispatched due to the nature of the injuries and the need for quick transport to hospital.
