New film by Alison Maclean at NZIFF on Saturday

Press Release – 818 Entertainment
Alison Maclean’s vibrant screen adaptation of Eleanor Catton’s debut novel The Rehearsal had its World Premiere at the NZIFF tonight and will screen at the NZIFF in Wellington’s Embassy Theatre next Saturday night.

“for me, hands-down, the New Zealand film of 2016 is The Rehearsal. I didn’t think this was a book that was going to adapt easily or well. Silly me. What a great piece of work” – David Larson, Metro Film Critic, facebook.

#TheRehearsal @nzff was fantastic. So awesome to have a big local production premiere in Auckland.” – Stewart Sowman-Lund, Keeping Up With New Zealand.

Director Alison Maclean who had flown from New York for the screening was “overwhelmed with the response at the packed screening and what a pleasure it was to share The Rehearsal with a home town audience”

Staring James Rolleston, Kerry Fox, Ella Edward, Alice Englert and Marlon Williams, The Rehearsal tells the story of Stanley (Rolleston), a naïve 1st year drama student who seeks to impress his charismatic tutor, Hannah (Fox). When Stanley’s group hits on a sex scandal involving his young girlfriend, Isolde (Edward) as the inspiration for their end-of-year show, Stanley finds himself in morally tricky territory.
