Helicopter rescues injured tramper

News from Life Flight Trust
An injured tramper was rescued from the Orongorongo Ranges this morning.

At 0630, the Wellington-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was sent to the Haurangi Hut in the Orongorongo River to retrieve the tramper who had chest injuries.

The helicopter responded with a Wellington Free Ambulance Paramedic on board.

The Paramedic was winched down to the hut where the tramper was treated and then set up for the winch back into the helicopter. He was then flown to Wellington Hospital.

The NZ Herald reports the tramper was injured when he fell from the roof of the hut during a party.
