“Not suspicious:” body of middle-aged woman found in water at Queens Wharf

Police investigating the death of a woman discovered in the water at Queens Wharf in Wellington on Friday have established that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

The matter has been referred to the Coroner.

A body was found in the water at Queens Wharf on the Wellington waterfront at about 6.30 this morning.

Police were called to the wharf and were working to recover the body.

UPDATE from NZ Police
The body found in the water at Queens Wharf has now been recovered.

It is the body of a middle aged woman.

Her death is being treated as unexplained, but at this stage there appear to be no suspicious circumstances.

Enquiries are being made to find out how she came to be in the water.

Police are also working to identify and notify the woman’s next of kin.
