250 Johnsonville people express concern about their mall

Press Release from Greg O’Connor
“The fact that 250 people turned out on a cold winter’s night to express their concern about the lack of development on the Johnsonville Mall is evidence of the depth of feeling on the matter in the northern suburbs,” says Labour Ōhāriu candidate Greg O’Connor.

Mr O’Connor was referring to the public meeting held in Johnsonville this evening about the Johnsonville Mall and the lack of progress and development.

The meeting, attended by Wellington Mayor Justin Lester, heard that the resource consent has been granted for the mall to go ahead and it is now awaiting a decision by Stride Property Group.

Many of those at the meeting expressed concerns at the falling numbers of the customers and the number of empty shops.

The meeting concluded with a unanimous motion that Stride attend a public meeting and inform the residents of the northern suburbs of their plans.
