New cases of covid in Levin and Ashhurst

Two new covid cases in the MidCentral region have been reported today, taking the total in the region to four. One is in Levin, and one is in Ashhurst.

The Ministry of Health says both people are likely to be linked to known cases.

The Ministry is encouraging testing for anyone with mild symptoms of COVID-19 across Horowhenua, Manawatû, and Tararua. People are asked to check the locations on interest on the Ministry of Health’s website.

There are nine testing venues in Palmerston North. There are 19 testing venues in the MidCentral region.

A total of 19 vaccination venues are available in the MidCentral region.

A total of 167 new cases were reported today, 142 of them in Auckland, 17 in the Waikato, 5 in Northland, one in the Bay of Plenty, one in Taupo, plus one in Canterbury. The two MidCentral cases will be included in tomorrow’s total. Two people with covid died overnight in hospitals in Auckland. One was a women in her 80s. The other was a man in his 90s.
