Covid case at Kilbirnie hotel – guests and contacts told to self-monitor for symptoms

A Wellington hotel was this afternoon added to the Ministry of Health’s locations of covid interest. Anyone who was at the Brentwood Hotel in Kilbirnie on Monday 22nd between 8:00 am and 11:59 pm and Tuesday 23rd between 12am and 7.30am is asked to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms for 10 days after you were at the hotel. If symptoms develop, get a test and stay at home until you get a negative test result AND until 24 hours after symptoms resolve.

The Ministry of Health says a positive case from Rotorua visited the capital during that time. The visit was not listed in the ministry’s daily Covid-19 update and was only detected when a new location of interest in Wellington was listed by the ministry without fanfare.

A second location of interest has now been published – Farmers in Kilbirnie on Friday from 9am to 9.10am. Extra times have also been published at the Brentwood.

December 2: More locations of interest: Wellington Airport on the 22nd (7.10 – 7.30pm) and 23rd (7.10am – 8.24am), Burger King at the airport on the 25th (2.30 – 3.30pm) and the Brentwood on Thursday 25th from 2.15 for the rest of the day and the 26th till 8.50am.

Two Wellington City locations of interest and people are already stepping out on to the roads to avoid each other. Going to rethink that speed limit change on the southern bays WgtnCC? [via twitter]
