New covid case in Hutt Valley – now 12 active cases in Wellington region

One new covid case in the Hutt Valley was reported today. The case is a contact of a previously reported cases and was isolating when they tested positive.

The Wellington region now has 12 active cases.

A total of 26 new community cases were reported throughout New Zealand today. And there are 56 more cases among travellers from overseas in MIQ.

Wellington.Scoop – January 18
A sixth case of covid was reported in Wellington today. The new case is a known contact of existing Wellington cases and has been in isolation. There are no locations of interest.

There are a total of 14 new cases of Covid-19 in the NZ community today and 30 in MIQ. Thirty people are in hospital – including two people in ICU.

Of today’s community cases, seven are in Auckland, six in the Rotorua District, and the one in Wellington. All of today’s Rotorua cases are linked to previously reported cases and are isolating at home or in managed accommodation.

News from Ministry of Health – January 17
There is one new covid case to report in the South Wairarapa today. The case is a contact of previously reported cases and was isolating when they tested positive.

The Greater Wellington region now has 13 active cases, including five in Wellington, three in the Hutt Valley and five in the Wairarapa.

A total of 14 new cases were reported today – seven in Auckland, six in the Rotorua district, and the one Wairarapa case.

Thirty people are in hospital in Auckland, with two in ICU.

200 covid patients in ICU in NSW.

Wellington.Scoop – January 16
One new covid case was reported by the Ministry of Health in the Wellington region today. This case is a close contact of a previously known Auckland case and is in isolation – there are no expected locations of interest. The Wellington region now has 12 active cases, including five in Wellington, three in the Hutt Valley and four in Wairarapa.

There are 25 new community cases reported today; as well as Wellington, the cases are in Whangarei, Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Rotorua, Hamilton, Ngaruawahia and Hastings. Also 43 more cases have been found in travellers in MIQ.

An Auckland MIQ worker has tested positive for the omicron variant, linked to two travellers from overseas. His seven household contacts have been isolated and tested with negative results. A further 48 close contacts are being contacted and tested, including five in Taupo. Among the close contacts are 39 people who were on two bus trips with the omicron case. The MIQ worker was wearing his mask throughout both bus journeys. A number of high risk locations in Auckland have been published.

Wellington.Scoop – January 15
The Ministry of Health has today reported one new covid case in Wellington City. The case is a household contact of a previously reported case and was isolating when they tested positive.

Today’s case was one of 29 new community cases reported today – 11 of them in Auckland and 14 in Rotorua – with another 25 new cases among travellers isolating after returning from overseas.

On Thursday, two new covid cases were reported in Lower Hutt, as well as four cases in the Wairarapa. Six locations of interest were reported.

On Friday, a Kent Terrace cafe in Wellington was listed as a location of interest, with a “close contact” category for anyone who had been seated while eating there on the previous Saturday.

Four earlier covid cases in Wellington were reported on January 11, on January 10, and on January 9.
